Selective Release Tool

Description:
  • The Selective Release tool is used to customize the delivery of course content according to a selected criteria, and in portions that you deem appropriate. 
  • Selective release tool can be accessed from the course menu or from the ActionLinks menu.
Who can do what?
  • Instructors and Designers can:

    • hide or show course content.
    • preview what particular students can see
    • you can make items available to students based on specific release criteria, such as a grade (grade book criteria), date (date criteria), group (group criteria) or user ID (member criteria).

Tip:
  • Remember, when you hide an item from its ActionLinks menu or from the Selective Release tool, you hide all instances of the item, not just the link from the current location.

  • You can also release content from the tool's inventory

How to set Release Criteria from the Tool's Inventory
  1. Select the tool from Course Tools menu.

  2. Locate the item in the tool’s inventory, and from its ActionLinks menu, click Set Release Criteria. The Set Release Criteria screen appears.

  3. Click the button for the criteria you want to set. For example, to release the item on a specific date, click Add Date Criteria.

  4. Select the criteria.

  5. Click Save.

 

Set Release Criteria from the Selective Release Tool
  1. Select the Selective Release tool from the Course Tools Menu.
  2. From the Course Content tab, locate the item and click its Set Release Criteria button.
  3. To release an item by date, click Add Date Criteria . To release the item by another criteria, click the corresponding criteria.

  4. Select the Available Starting and Available Until dates and click Save.

 

Checking Selective Release from the Members Tab
  1. Click the Members tab of the Selective Release tool. The students and other section members are listed here in alphabetical order by User ID.
  2. To view which items are available to a student, click the student's User ID.
  3. The items and their availability to that particular student are shown.
  4. You cannot change item availability from the Members tab; it is read-only.
