Announcement Tool

Description:
  • The Announcement tool is a virtual messenger in the course.
  • Announcements can be delivered to students, teaching assistants, section instructors, section designers, auditors.
  • Announcements can be delivered as a pop-up message as well as in the Announcements Tool and in the My Blackboard area.
Who can do what?
  • Designers can create and send announcements.
  • Instructors can create and send announcements.
  • Students can view announcements.
Tip:

Once you have created an announcement, you can only edit the announcement if it has not been delivered. Allow time when you set the delivery times in case you need to make changes after previewing your announcement.

How to Create an Announcement
  1. You need to add the Announcement Tool in the course menu. To add the Announcement Tool, click on the Build Tab --> Designer Tools --> Manage Course --> Tools.   Check  Announcements and click 'Save.'
  2. Under Course Tools, click Announcements.
  3. Click Create Announcement.
  4. Enter a title that identifies and summarizes the announcement.
  5. In the Message text box, enter the announcement.
  6. Under Recipients, select each role you want to receive the announcement.
  7. Under Delivery Dates, select a date and time to start and end displaying the announcement.
  8. If you want the announcement to appear as a pop-up message when individuals log in to the course, select Also
  9. deliver as a pop-up message.
  10. Click Send. The announcement is saved and delivered to the selected roles on the delivery dates.
 
How to Edit an Announcement
  1. Under Course Tools, click Announcements.
  2. Click on ActionLinks icon next to the Announcement title.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Click Send after you made the necessary changes.
