will open.
On the login page, use your FIU Panther ID as the user name and your default
password for your password to log in the first time. (You are e-mailed
your default (initial) password when your new course information is given to
you.) Once you log in, you will see the My Blackboard page listing your CE
6 courses. Click on a course link to enter a course. The first time you log in to Blackboard CE 6

FAQ 5: How do I reuse a course from a previous semester?
Once you have developed a CE 6 course, you will need to submit
the Course
Request form each subsequent semester that you teach the course. Each time
you submit the request, we will create an instance of the course for the term
and section you specify. You can copy the content from a previous CE 6 section
the first time you enter the new course, or we can copy it for you when the
shell is created. We will migrate your course if necessary from WebCT 4.1.For more information, see the Start of Semester
Procedures for instructors.

FAQ 7: How will students enroll in my Blackboard CE 6 course?
Students who are registered in your course via the PantherSoft registration
system will automatically be enrolled in your Blackboard CE 6 course. There will
be a delay of several hours to a day from the time the students register to the
time they appear in your Blackboard CE 6 grade book.To ensure that there is no delay in populating students to
your CE 6 course, check the course coding in the PantherSoft class schedule to
ensure that your course is enabled for CE 6. Until your course section is
coded XML on the LMS data page in the class schedule, your students will not
appear in your CE 6 course. For more information, see the Start of Semester
Procedures for instructors.

You can add or remove tools in your course from both the Build and Teach tabs.

Menu on the left. From the Teach tab, go to the Instructor Tools located
at the bottom of the course menu. From either area, click Manage Course and then Tools. To add a tool to your course, check the box in front of

FAQ 9: Why can't my student attach a file to a submission in the
Assignments tool? CE 6 will not upload the file.
CE 6 will not allow you to attach a file in the Assignments
tool if the file name does not follow the naming conventions for the web.
File names for files on the web must follow two important rules:
- There can be no spaces in the file name.
- There can be no illegal characters in the file name.
To separate words in a file name without leaving spaces, use
the underscore. The file name assignment 1.doc is incorrect, but
assignment_1.doc is correct.The illegal characters are : ~ [ ] ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) +
‘ { } | \ < > / ? ; ‘ “. You cannot use these characters in the file name
of any file that will be used in CE 6. The file naming conventions for CE 6 apply to all file types -
web pages, Word documents, PowerPoint files, PDF's, etc.

FAQ 10: When I try to enter a Chat Room, I get the following error
message:
"Only one chat session can be open at a time. Please close
your existing session before opening a new one."
I don't have a chat
session open. What is wrong?
When this happens, it is usually caused by a problem with the
Java set-up on your computer. If you have the correct version of Java
installed and are still getting this message, it usually means that you still
have multiple versions of Java installed and will need to remove the older
versions. Follow the instructions under Setting Up Java Correctly for CE 6 on the Blackboard CE 6 Browser Requirements page.

FAQ 11: How do I turn off pop-up blockers?
Pop-ups are new windows opened automatically by your web browser. Sometimes
pop-up windows are triggered by annoying advertisements or other unwanted
messages, but other times, they perform legitimate functions. Blackboard
CE6 uses pop-up windows for tests, external links, help, and other important
functions.
A pop-up blocker is often a feature of your browser, but it can also be part of
a toolbar you may have added to your browser, like Yahoo, AOL, or AIM. You will
need to turnoff or disable pop-up blockers while using Blackboard CE6.
Here is a link to a handout on How to
Disable Common Pop-Up Blockers.
Some pop-up blockers, such as the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer, will
allow you to add a site to a list that will allow pop-ups from the sites. Login
to My Blackboard and set your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from your My
Blackboard page.
